Content standards
Pages should answer a clear reader question, explain the method or source behind important claims, use accurate units and distinguish estimates from exact values. We avoid unsupported health claims, exaggerated promises and unnecessary keyword repetition.
Research and sources
For factual topics, we prioritize primary sources, government and public-health agencies, recognized food-safety authorities, product labels and reputable reference material. Where a page relies on a formula, we explain the formula and define its variables.
Calculator testing
Calculators should be tested with ordinary inputs, boundary values, unit conversions and simple cases that can be checked independently. Pages should identify assumptions, rounding behavior and limitations. We do not describe a tool as tested unless testing has actually been completed.
Editorial review and updates
We review pages when source information changes, a tool is modified or a reader reports a possible error. Updated pages should reflect substantive changes rather than changing dates without a meaningful review.
