Nutrition Calculators

Nutrition calculators can help organize food information and estimate recipe values. They are most useful when ingredient weights, serving sizes and nutrition data are accurate and consistent.

What you can calculate

Recipe nutrition estimates can combine ingredient energy and nutrient values, then divide totals by the number or weight of portions. Protein, carbohydrate, fat, fiber, sugar and sodium estimates depend on the data source and the ingredient’s exact form.

Understand serving sizes

A recipe’s total nutrition is not the same as the nutrition in one serving. Decide how many portions the finished recipe makes, or weigh the finished dish and calculate a portion by weight. Unequal portions produce unequal nutrient amounts.

Read food labels carefully

Check whether label values are listed per serving, per 100 grams or per package. Confirm whether the product is prepared as sold or after cooking. Do not mix units without converting them first.

Important limitations

Calculator outputs are estimates. Food composition varies by variety, brand, growing conditions, storage, cooking method and moisture loss. These tools are not intended to diagnose, treat or manage a medical condition or replace individualized advice from a registered dietitian or qualified clinician.
